What it does

When people across different teams use different titles for the same kind of work, it is hard to say who is senior to whom, or how two roles compare in value. This page gives you one clear view: four career tracks, support, professional, management and executive, and 14 levels from entry to chief executive. Reach for it when you are building a career framework, writing a job description, or explaining to a manager why two titles sit at different levels. Each level has typical titles, a one sentence definition and a reference band, so levels in different tracks line up with each other. You do not need all 14 levels. In the starter workbook, each level can be switched off, so you start from a tested structure instead of a blank page. This is the summary page of the Job architecture kit.

What is inside

  • A table of 14 levels across four tracks
  • Typical titles for each level, from Operator to Chief Executive
  • A one sentence definition for every level
  • A reference band showing which levels line up across tracks
  • A note on using the starter workbook to switch levels on or off

Who it is for

  • An HR lead building a career framework from scratch
  • A manager trying to explain why two job titles sit at different levels
  • A recruiter comparing titles across teams before writing a job ad
