The rules, kept short.

People Commons is free to use, with an optional paid Membership, and run by one person in his own time. These terms say what you can expect from the site and what it expects from you.

1. Who you are dealing with

Using peoplecommons.com means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

2. What the service is

People Commons offers AI writing tools and downloadable resources for people who work in HR. It is free to use, it offers an optional paid Membership with a larger allowance, and it is under active development.

Those words carry weight. Free means that using the site needs no payment. The Membership is a paid subscription, and section 11 sets out how it works. Under development means pages change, tools are added and removed, and things occasionally break.

There is no guaranteed level of availability. The site may be down, slow, or partly broken at any time.
A tool may be changed or withdrawn without notice.
Nothing here is a business critical system and it should not be treated as one. Keep your own copy of anything that matters.

This applies to the Membership too. It buys a larger monthly allowance, not a guaranteed service level. If a tool you rely on is withdrawn while you are a member, you may cancel and ask for the unused part of your current period back.

None of this is an excuse for carelessness. It is a description of what a one person project can honestly promise.

3. Your account

An account is for one person. Please do not share sign in details.
Use an email address you actually control, because password resets and any answer to a data request go to it.
Keeping your password safe is your responsibility. If you think someone else has it, change it, and tell me if something looks wrong on your account.
You may close your account at any time. Section 10 says how.

An account may be suspended or closed if it is used in a way that breaks section 4. Where that happens for anything other than an obvious attack on the site, you will be told why and given a chance to answer.

4. What you may not do

The list is short and none of it should be a surprise.

Do not use the tools to produce anything unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or designed to deceive someone.
Do not try to get around the monthly allowance with scripts, multiple accounts, or automated requests.
Do not scrape the site, hammer the endpoints, or run load against it.
Do not try to reach other people's accounts, saved work, or any part of the system not meant for you.
Do not resell access to the tools or present them as your own service.
Do not upload material you have no right to use.

The allowance exists because every AI run costs real money. Working around it takes money out of a project that gives its output away, which is why it is the one rule enforced strictly.

5. Credits and limits

The AI tools run on a monthly allowance measured in credits. The current numbers are on the pricing page, which is the only place they are published, so there is one version of them and not two.

Credits have no monetary value. They cannot be bought, sold, transferred or refunded.
Unused credits do not roll over. A free allowance starts again on the first day of each month. A Membership allowance starts again on the day of the month the Membership began.
The numbers may change. Where a change reduces what you get, it will be announced on the pricing page before it takes effect.
Refining a draft is free and does not use a credit. Downloading a file does not use a credit either.

6. What the AI produces

The tools generate text from what you type. That text is yours to use, edit and publish, and no claim is made over it.

Read what comes out before you use it. AI models produce fluent text that can be wrong, out of date, or confidently invented, and a policy draft that reads well is not the same as a policy draft that is correct.

The Writing Desk in particular produces documents that look finished: an HR policy, a job description, a job advert. They are drafts. They are not legal advice, they are not HR advice for your organisation, and they have not been checked against the employment law of any country. Anything that will govern how real people are treated at work must be reviewed by someone qualified in the relevant jurisdiction before it is used.

Three things about those documents are worth stating plainly, because they are the ones most easily missed:

A job description is signed by an employee and kept on a personnel file. What the tool produces is a starting point for that conversation, not a document ready to sign. The duties and requirements are drafted from what a role of that kind normally involves, not from your organisation.
A job description names the employment law of a country, worked out from the location you typed. That naming is a convenience, not a legal opinion, and it cites no section, article or paragraph. Confirm it locally.
A job advert is published to the public and is subject to equal treatment and pay transparency rules that differ by country. The tool is written to avoid discriminatory wording, but the advert you publish is yours, and so is the responsibility for it.

Where the tool does not know a fact about your organisation, it leaves a blank in square brackets rather than inventing one. Those blanks are deliberate. Publishing a document with them still in it is not a fault of the tool.

You are responsible for what you do with the output. That includes checking the facts, checking the law, and checking that nothing confidential went into the tool in the first place. The privacy page suggests a practical way to handle that last point.

7. The downloadable resources

Files from the Market Square are written to be used, not admired. When you download one, you may:

Use it inside your own organisation, including with your colleagues
Edit it, cut it down, rebrand it, and make it fit how you work
Use the result in your own internal documents without crediting this site

You may not:

Resell the file, or a lightly edited version of it, on its own
Publish it for download somewhere else, free or paid
Include it in a product, a course or a template pack that you sell
Pass it to clients as your own deliverable if consulting is your business

The line is simple. Use it in your work, yes. Turn it into your product, no.

The resources describe general HR practice. They are not legal advice and they do not reflect the rules of any particular country. Check anything that has to comply with local law.

8. The site's own content

The name People Commons, the wordmark, the two dot mark, the written content of the pages and the design of the site belong to the operator. Please do not copy them for another service, and do not present something else as if it came from here.

Quoting a sentence with a link back is fine and always welcome.

9. Liability

The service is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. That includes no warranty that it will be available, that it will be free of errors, or that the output will be fit for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent Hungarian law permits, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, for lost data, or for a decision taken on the basis of something a tool produced.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are using the site as a consumer, your statutory rights under Hungarian and EU consumer law are not affected by anything written here.

10. Ending it

You may stop using the site at any time. To close your account, email hello@peoplecommons.com from the address on the account with the word Delete in the subject. What is removed and what stays is set out in the privacy page.

An account may be closed from this end if section 4 is broken. The site itself may be closed down at some point, and if that happens there will be notice on the home page and time to take your saved work with you.

11. Membership and payment

Everything in this section applies only if you choose to become a member. Using the site with a free account needs no payment.

What you buy

The Membership is a subscription that gives you the larger monthly allowance shown on the pricing page. It costs 9 EUR a month or 90 EUR a year. VAT is included in both prices.

Who takes the payment

Payments are handled by Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ, Estonia), which acts as the reseller and merchant of record. In practice this means you buy the Membership from Creem, Creem charges your card, charges the right VAT for your country and sends your invoice. Creem's own terms apply to the payment itself. Your card details go to Creem and never reach this site.

Renewal and cancelling

The Membership renews automatically at the end of each month or year, at the same price, until you cancel.
You can cancel at any time from your account page, under Manage subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep the Membership until the end of the period you already paid for.
If a renewal payment fails, Creem will try again for a short time. If the payment cannot be collected, the Membership ends and the account returns to a free account.
When a Membership ends, nothing you saved is deleted. If you have more saved documents than a free account allows, you keep them all, and new ones can be saved once you are back under the free limit.

Refunds

Payments for a period that has started are not refunded, and a cancelled period is not refunded in part. Your right of withdrawal below, and the case in section 2 where a tool you rely on is withdrawn, are the exceptions. If a payment was taken by mistake, write to hello@peoplecommons.com and it will be put right.

Your right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the EU, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. The Membership starts as soon as you pay. At checkout you ask for it to start straight away and confirm that you understand this ends your right of withdrawal once it starts. That is why the box at checkout has to be ticked before you can pay. Where the law of your country still gives you a right of withdrawal, you keep it, and you will get back the part of the period you have not used.

Price

Your price stays the same for as long as your Membership continues without a break. If the price for new members changes, existing members keep the price they joined at. If you cancel and join again later, the price at that time applies.

Kits

A kit is a set of files in the Market Square that is sold for a single payment. It is not part of the Membership, it does not renew, and it does not count against your monthly downloads. You need an account to buy one, so that the files can be kept in your library. The price is shown before you pay and includes VAT. Payment is handled by Creem, in the same way as for the Membership.

Once you have bought a kit it stays in your library, and you can download its files again at no cost for as long as you have your account. Section 7 applies to the files in a kit in the same way as to any other file from the Market Square.

A kit is digital content that is delivered at once. At checkout you ask for the files straight away and confirm that you understand this ends your 14 day right of withdrawal once the kit is in your library. That is why the box has to be ticked before you can pay. After that a kit payment is not refunded. Where the law of your country still gives you a right of withdrawal, you keep it. If a payment was taken by mistake, or a file cannot be opened, write to hello@peoplecommons.com and it will be put right. If a kit payment is refunded or reversed, the kit leaves your library.

Nothing that is free today becomes paid retrospectively.

12. Law, and changes to these terms

These terms are governed by Hungarian law. Disputes belong to the Hungarian courts. If you are a consumer resident in another EU country, this does not remove the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country.

These terms carry a version number and a date. When they change, the version goes up and the date changes with it. A change that materially affects you will be announced on the home page before it takes effect. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.

If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
